Crash

One of my biggest fears finally became reality... Well, my biggest fear after my house burning down or a child being abducted or going down in a plane or a number of other horrific events that I think about right as I'm falling asleep every night. But my worst, non-blood shed, no-one-dies-or-is-seriously-injured, nothing-happens-to-my-kids worst fear. My computer crashed. That's a hassle. I had virtually nothing backed up. That's a near tragedy.

We definitely had documents on there that will be a pain to replace - my resume, reports for this non-profit Board I'm on, but the most devastating thing is losing about 6 months worth of photos - My 40th, Tink's 3rd, Christmas, Halloween, Pink's first dance recital. Nothing was backed up. Nada. Gone.

Along with my computer, I believe I've crashed. I am beyond exhausted and I don't know why. I feel like I can barely function anymore. I feel like I'm on the verge of slipping into a coma. And, like, I don't understand all these people talking about how they NAP by the way. Blogs I read, friends in real life... they engage in recreational day sleep. DAY sleep! I mean, I can't get enough sleep at night let alone during the day. Am I missing out on something here? Do people actually have children that allow them the luxury of napping AND sleeping at night? I think I got totally ripped off.

So, back to the point. Tired, drained, over scheduled... How do I reboot myself? I'm totally snapping at my husband all the time, so we're not really communicating well. That's not helping matters, and I'm pretty sure it's my fault even though I don't want to admit it. Maybe I just need a vacation. Oh, wait. I'll get one of those the end of August... a lake house full of 4 kids that I have to supervise the large majority of the time. Family vacations with small children... insanely relaxing, I know. Can't wait. At least it will be a change of scenery.

If you are feeling weirdly tired (like worse than the usual considering your life) think two things (this happened to me): If you are 35, if you are "older than" 35, as in 45. If it's the 45 (which does not seem to be the case for you, based on what I am reading???) it's menopause. Get a good herbal supplement. If it's 35...there's something about that age that does it to you, some sort of shift, don't ask me what!! But I had to ride through it, think good thoughts, and get a good herbal supplement!! Sleep ain't coming your way soon, so it's gotta be the old body/psyche trying to freak you out! Sorry 'bout the computer...that's tough.

Sorry about you and your computer crashing. I had a friend lose precious pictures (like from her son's birth) when her computer crashed. She sent an e-mail out to firends asking them to send any photos of her kids that she may have e-mailed out.

Sounds like you need some downtime. I know, I know, how in the world do you do that? At least stop and do something small just for you.

So sorry to hear about your computer. That totally sucks. Mine crashed back in August. Luckily I had all my school stuff on my jump drive, but still.

We paid someone to retrieve the stuff on the hard drive, but I lost all my ipod songs!

Hang in there!

My PC crashed a few months ago...alot of my daughter's baby photos...it wouldn't even boot up. Some computer geek saved it. I pray you will have the same fortune.

If not, your memories can never be erased.

Prayers sent up.

So sorry about your PC. I hope you'll be able to retrieve your photos somehow.

About the naps...I don't get it either. People are always suggesting that I take naps. Ummm..when? where? how? Even if I had the opportunity, I wouldn't be able to sleep. You're not alone there.

Hang in there. Hope you feel better soon!

Ohhh, I've had that happen before - twice with the same computer! It's so maddening.

And I'm with you on the naps. Who has the time?

Alicia, I feel your pain. Our computer crashed when Tristan was 6 months old. I did print out his borth pictures but those are the only ones we have, the one copy I printed! We lost his 2-6 month pictures. I have none of him at that time. My friend's computer crashed and she lost all her videos. Her son's birth, first steps, etc.
I hope you can get pay someone to get them back!
And I hear you on the sleep. Tristan has decided to wake up all different times during the night. He came into our room 2 nights ago at 1:00. This morning Jack found him sitting at the top of the steps at 5:00! He took him back to bed but he was back in our room 40 minutes later. I don't know whats going on with him! Plus he doesn't nap.
I feel your pain with the sleep. I feel completely drained!
