The Day AFTER Mother's Day Rocks

Mother's Day weekend was nice... very nice actually. Even though it was not a "dream" Mother's Day. I insisted on no gifts this year to save every dime we have for the building of our Dream Home (ground breaking the end of May). Fine. I love a good gift, but to me it IS the thought that TRULY counts. Well, somehow there was not much THOUGHT either... with my husband the "thought" is the gift. Or more importantly, he equates the amount of thought to the amount of money spent on the gift... or perhaps that's vice versa. I know I shouldn't complain about money being spent on me, but if you read my earlier post about What I REALLY want for mother's day, you'll get what I mean.

So, as I was saying, Mother's Day weekend was very nice in a non-relaxing, non-special, non-escape from the kids and get pampered sort of way. But it was nice in that we did stuff with our respective extended families all weekend which is way cool - particular with MY family because we don't really get together all that much.

But, the day AFTER Mother's Day has truly rocked. It is like raining gifts out of the sky today. First, a neighbor gave me a pound of free coffee. Then, I got my Whooga Boots in the mail, shipped all the way from Australia. Literally. I got this awesome deal on them(after a Whooga Representative read my post on the hole in my Uggs... what a nice guy!). Anyway, if you know how addicted I am to Uggs, and how pissed I was at the stupid hole that sprang in them, you'll appreciate how happy I am to have a new pair that are not only comparable to Uggs (not knock offs) but perhaps even better. What a great day!

What else can top this day? Oh, my brother stopped by with 2 free newspapers for me. Yesterday I had an article printed in one of our County papers and I forgot to pick it up before I went out of town. Boots, coffee, newspapers with my lovely article in print.

What else? What could top this day? You really want to know? Free Margaritas tonight with friends. Yes, THIS is my REAL Mother's Day celebration. Screw yesterday with all its "officialness"... tonight is the real deal. Mommas hanging out with Mommas laughing, eating, and hitting the sauce. Hanging with the best group of chicks around.

Friendship. That's the best kind of "free" there is.

Thanks for the comment. I'm sorry; I'm so behind on people's blogs right now. End-of-semester craziness. Hope you had a great mother's day.

G-I-R-L!! Let me tell you for mothers day all i wanted to do was leave my kids..now some people may think this is wrong..and thats ok, I could care less. After the week of screaming and fighting I have had; if i was not pregnant I would be in Mexico by now!!

On mothers day they got their act together long enough to give me breakfast in bed; then they STAYED in the room with me and watched sponge bob and ate my food! (WTH)!! Yeah it was a wonderful day!
