If I may have a second to toot a horn, as I have so few occassions to do so...
An essay of mine appears in this month's issue of Parenting Special Needs.
Check out this wonderful magazine for parents of kids who are differently-abled. It's great! If you'd like to read my essay, "Is It Autism?" check it out HERE.

Alicia,
First of all, kudos to you for getting your article published in such a worthy publication!!
Secondly, I read your article and LOVED it!! You are such a talented writer, and I could feel your emotions and sense of voice coming off the cyberpage.
I can understand why you would have those doubts. After you are blindsided, it's hard not to be wary. I loved the end: "Does it matter?"
That's so true. While we measure children by milestones, the truth is that each child is a gift and unique. How can we truly measure a child?
Congrats on an outstanding piece of work!!
Congratulations!!! I loved that post. So proud of you :)
Bravo to you -- and what a wonderful essay. It has love and suspense and sadness and is beautiful, to boot. Keep writing --
Great piece, Alicia! I can completely relate to the opposite ends of the "spectrum" in terms of language. Rhema is nonverbal and Hope started talking up a storm at 11 months and has never stopped. We don't know what "normal" development looks like either. Love the last line of the article. You are such a gifted writer!
Beautiful article!! The ending puts an unexpected smile on your face... thanks for sharing!
Excellent article, Alicia. Glad you tooted; I enjoyed reading it.
