Whatsa Whooga?

I saved for years to buy my coveted UGGS, wore them for 12 months, and then fell into a deep depression when they developed a hole in the toe for NO REASON. I was devastated. For real. You have no idea how much I adored these boots or more accurately, adored my warm, comfy, cozy feet during the winter in these boots. I didn't know if I could trust another UGG again. But my feet were addicted to them - like a drug. I was certainly full of trepidation at the thought of sinking another pretty penny into the same catastrophe. On top of that, I've had many friends who needed to ship their UGGS back to the manufacturer for a multitude of problems- defective stitching, holes from wear, soles coming apart, etc.

Oh, the HUMANITY!!!!

Okay, first - I need to differentiate UGGS and Ugg boots. Mainly to show off, but it also makes an important point. As I recently learned, there are different types of ugg boots. An ugg boot is a STYLE of sheepskin boot. We tend to think of UGG brand as uggs. It's a popular brand (after making it to Oprah's list) of sheepskin boot, but it is NOT the only Ugg boot out there. Just like Ford and BMW are types of cars, so are UGG and Whooga types of high quality sheepskin boots. We AREN'T talkin' knock offs here. They are simply different ugg boot companies making similar caliber, genuine sheepskin ugg-style boots. And, in my humble opinion, the most popular brand, or most expensive brand is not always the best. Do your homework!

I found one brand that IS one of the best. High quality, great look, highest grade merino sheepskin: Soft, comfy, durable. It's not the UGG... It's a Whooga Ugg.

So Whatsa Whooga? If you want the look of the classic Ugg boot AND the comfort AND the durability, the Whooga is the way to go. Knock off boots are NOT 100% high quality sheepskin and as a result your feet will sweat and itch. Spend a little less than you would for UGGS (which by the way, are NOT very durable, and it's not just ME talkin' here) and get a boot identical in LOOK and comfort and BETTER in durability. This is not the time to go knock-off or cheap! Yes, faux sheepskin may cost you less, but honestly only by 20 or 30 bucks. And they aren't NEARLY as comfy. Real, quality sheepskin wraps your foot in a tiny slice of heaven. Like you're walking on a warm fuzzy cloud. Like you were swaddling it in a baby blanket of sheer bliss and that keeps your feet at JUST the right temperature in any weather... *sigh*

Whoogas. That's what I'M talkin' about folks. Cute. Quality. Affordability. NOT a knock off, but a high caliber product that will withstand more than 12 months of wear before ripping, tearing, fraying and loosing its sole (oh yes, UGG - I'm talkin' to YOU). Whoogas have made my tootsies happy. I'm officially spreading the word.

*Though I did receive a pair of Whooga Uggs in exchange for a product review, I do review products honestly. I received no other compensation for this post and was only asked to give my honest review of this product.

WOW!! Recommendation noted. I need boots for this upcoming winter and will be taking your advice. I know a friend who is UGG crazy, but I don't think she has Whooga ones.

Loved reading your recommendation. Funny, yet practical.

Were you given these boots for "free" to review?

Added an end note to clarify - i was asked to review the boots and was extended the offer to keep them if I liked them, and to only do a review if I liked the boots. I was able to keep them whether I did the review or not. I just chose to review them bc i really DO love the product :)

Will definitely check them out. I've had a pair of Uggs for 5 years and wore them to death. There's a tear in one toe seam so they're not quite water proof anymore. A friend swears by Auggie Dogs. Hmmm

I just got a pair of whoogas ,, they are made in china.
posted from china
made in china
NOT AUS
THere's no address or phone contact on their whooga site.
Go figure.
don't be fooled people.

@anonymous - wow. MY whoogas came postmarked FROM australia. I saw the return label and postmark on my box. They were shipped to me from a Whooga sales rep. Perhaps there are knock off whoogas out there? I dont know what to say. I believe your story, but I know MY pair seem legit and have lasted very well and are warm and cozy and i have no indication they were made in china. Im sorry you spent money on something and were disappointed. that always sucks :( im not convinced they were the same whoogas as i have though.... hmmmmm....

Whoogas are made in China since the start of this season.
They have even admitted this.
They were originally made in AU but like everything else it seems, no longer

@anonymous: and did you send the boots back?
or are you happy with the boots?
i just recently bought UGGS. But the Whooga boots are really not that expensive, I would love to try these if they are realy oké....
Most of the 'fake UGGS' are not that firm so you walk next to the shoe (if you what i mean).

Yes, the 'fake uggs' are crap. these are not fake uggs though. much like Koolaberras - which are an ugg type sheepskin boot (significantly MORE expensive than Uggs and most people havent heard of them, and may assume they're knock offs unless they are fashionista types)- whoogas claim to be another brand of high-caliber sheepskin boot or merino grade wool. I know what you mean about 'walking on the shoe' - and i have not experienced this at all with my whoogas (a year old now) - which i totally abuse by the way. my real UGGS on the other hand are so trashed and uncomfortable now after only 18 months of wear. i was really disappointed in them, but prob. will buy another pair anyway - though i'll go with the crocheted to avoid a hole in my toe again!! :)

I've just come back from the UGGS store in the Westfield shopping centre (you have to queue to get in....!).

Anyway, ALL the boots in their flagship UK store have a tag inside that say "Made in China". I really wouldn't read too much into that, China is currently the workhouse of the world, pretty much everything is made there now.

Wasn't that impressed with the UGGS - quality wasn't as good as I would expect for £250+. Glue over-run on the seems, uneven stitching etc. It seemed to me that they are adding on £100 purely because people want the brand affiliation.

Will be checking out Whooga's for sure.

I am expecting Whoogas in the mail, and I am super excited! I have a friend who has a pair, and she loves them! She let me try them on the first day she got them, and they were awesome! She literally had to pull them off my feet!!! =D

I am expecting Whoogas in the mail, and I still remember the first time I tried them on at my friends house! It was about two months ago, and she had just got them in the mail! They were so comfy, she literally had to hold me down to take them off... it took quite a while!

DO NOT TOUCH WITH A BARGE-POLL!!! Ordered several weeks ago for Christmas. Delivery date came and went. Contacted via email 3 times. No response. Warning signs..No contact telephone number or email. Out of pocket £80. No Christmas present for my wife. Very poor.

I've been looking at purchasing a pair of whoogas classic talls. I'm normally a size 5 in all footwear but according to the size chart on the whooga website I would need a size 3. Can anyone tell me if they had to go down one or two sizes or did you just order your normal shoe size. This is the only thing that is stopping me making my order.

People! PLS DONT BE FOOLED BY THIS BRAND I got my whoogas last week and they are such bad quality. They streched out afte rone day and the colour looked worn out. They have NO DURABILITY I was so dissapointed. Buy the original! I am not even gonna bothersending them back. It will probably cost me more in the end and i already wasted my money.....:( Karen

I'm no whooga expert but Im currently wearing a size 8 in the Whoogas and I AM a size 8. The rep. who took my order asked me my size and i think even my foot measurements or something!

@karen: I cant believe your horrible experience! thats really a bummer. I can only speak for my personal experience: I bought UGGS and got a 'wear' hole after 12 months right in the toe and the stitching started coming unraveled. I paid over 120$ for them. I've been wearing my whoogas for 12 months and they are like brand new and still as comfy. So weird. I don't know the answer - Im a big UGG fan myself, but Im just comparing the 2 boots that ive had experience with and the whoogas ARE holding up better. BUT, I love the UGGS cardi boot so I'll be buying those next :)

I have a pair of Whoogas and I love them. No problems whatsoever with the quality or the service. I found their staff very helpful. I prefer them over my UGG Australia uggs. I got them ok through the post - yep they came from China, but if you read the website, they explain why they can't manufacture them in Australian anymore, even though they remain an Australian company and ship Australian Merino sheepskin to China for their boots to be made from.

UGG Australia no longer line their boots with 100% sheepskin wool anymore - fact. The newer UGG Australia boots (the ones with the new sole design) have an artificial lining called Mylar which is glued onto the sheepskin. The only natural wool fibers are on the footbed. They have admitted as such when people have questioned their customer service reps. Look at their website - they no longer mention using Merino wool where they used. All references to it have been removed from their website. Yet people are still buying the boots because they don't realise and only want the brand name.

My name is Charles and i love to wear Ugg's. I bought a pair of Chocalate tall boots and they are so confortable

Ordered Whoogas for my husband for Christmas. They arrived and smelled god awful. The did not look or feel like suede and the lining was stiff. The boots were ordered with the directions from the site. The came too small. Were unevenly stitched and just of the poorest quality. We returned them for a full refund including shipping but lost out on the $25 it took us to ship them back. You live and you learn. If something seems to good it usually is. Only Ugg Australia or Emu from now on.

I had a fabulous experience at Whooga in the last week or so.
About a couple of weeks ago I ordered a pair and they arrived two days later.

Unfortunately I got two left feet. I looked on the website - no contact number only a form. Being the sceptic I am, I filled out the form, also emailed the site and thought: 'that's the last I'll hear from those guys'.

Within half an hour - yes half an hour, I had two emails from two different people saying they were very sorry and they were sending two right feet - and please, keep the extra pair as a way of saying sorry for the mishap.

I couldn't believe it. My faith in customer service in Australia for online shopping has been restored.

My hubby bought me Whoogas 3years ago & I love them!! I am about to buy a new pair as I unfortunately (stupidly?!) left my old (but still perfect) ones next to a radiator & they got burnt. I am going for Whoogas again as they are so comfy, look good and are roughly half the price of the same style of UGG brand boot.
