Little Volcanos

A conversation I should NOT YET be having with a little girl that JUST turned 5.

Pink: "Why does CB get to wear a bra? I want to wear a bra too!!!"

Me: "She wears a bra because she's a teenager. You're not old enough yet."

Pink: "How about I wear one of those LITTLE bras?"

I know she's refering to the little training bras she saw in the Girl's section of a department store and went bananas over.

Me, stiffling an amuzed chuckle: "Honey, you have nothing to PUT in it."

Pink yanks up her shirt and says with pride:"Yes I do. See? I have little volcanos!"

Lord, please help me....

That's awesome. I think I've said it before, but she'd make a fine wife for my Oliver.

Oh just you wait. It just gets better and better. And then it gets a little scary.
Too funny.

My daughter, who is 7, has asked so many of those kinds of questions since she learned how to talk, that she already knows about periods and where babies come from. Of course I always try to answer with the most simplistic answers possible unless she asks for more detail. I always answer her questions even though it's not always easy. I am so there with you! My daughter also wanted a bra because one of her 8 year old friends had one (that she didn't need). They are growing up soooo fast these days : (

WOW!! They grow up so fast, don't they? I think kids today are more aware of things than years ago. When I was five, I didn't know a thing.

The volcano comment was adorable. What a cutie-pie.

Max decided after Jarrett had watched the puberty fims at achool and brought home a little book and sample of deodorant that he needed deodorant too. It didn't matter to him that Jarrett doesn't even need it yet. Max is 4 and declares he has stinky armpits and needs deodorant.

I agree ... you shouldn't need to have this conversation with a five-year-old -- kinda sad. But what a classic moment! :)

lol. Give her a bra, she'll be tired of it in a few hours. Problem solved. :) Very cute story, though. :)

So cute! And as an aside, do you ever wonder why they are called training bras? What exactly are they training? Certainly not the boobs.
