Out Of The Overflow Of The Heart, The Mouth Speaks

Silver Lining Pictures, Images and Photos
My blogger-friend Corrie shared this bible verse with me when commenting on the "Is Shouting The New Spanking" post.

Out of the overflow of the heart, the mouth speaks.

Could there be anything more true?

I like to think I'm a kind, nice, forgiving, loving person. I like to think this. But sometimes, what comes out of my mouth...

... and to the ears of the people I love the most. Or need my love the most.

When my words have themes of self-centeredness, judgmentalness, sarcasm, bitterness, and criticism, I fear for what is in my heart.

So, to change the words, I suppose one must look into the heart.
I just wish I wasn't so afraid of what I might find in there.

WOW! That will make ya think. As of tomorrow I have three teenaged daughters.... 18, 15, 13...(and a 9 year old son). I am fully aware that some of the things coming out of my mouth... ummmm, not always patient and loving...however, not trying to play the flip side of this thought...I must admit that some of my "over flow" is needed and necessary. SO, along with the principle of the pause... I always think... is what I am about to say needed and necessary? I try to add nice as well...but let's face it...the business of life is not always nice. Keeping it real is imperative around here. I wanna hope that for the most part my heart is in the right place...and when its not...I try hard to say nothing, it costs me nothing to say nothing...ha ha, cost me nothing.... yeah right I've wanted to bite my lip off my face testing the say nothing theory. I know I am not the only one pushing along on doing the best we can short staffed and under appreciated. :) Hang in there mamma's your doing the work of an Army alone most days!

I love the photo. Thanks for the shout out today too! Yes, definitely on days when I don't like what's coming out of my mouth, I realize I need to do a "heart check." :-)

That does put things in a different perspective! Definitely something for me to think about.

Great article as for me. I'd like to read more concerning that matter. Thanx for sharing that information.
